I was pretty tired last night in Roncesvalles but I ventured out to look around, but when I did there wasn’t much to see. Apart from the cool sculpture and the church where I attended a pilgrims mass which was lovely. I met some other people at a the accommodation and we had dinner together. Englishman, Irish man, 2 kiwis, German, and a Aussie. I had Pasta and Fish for dinner. I think it was some sort of trout. The whole thing deep fried skin on it was very nice. We went to the mass after dinner and then I head up to my bed to lie down I closed my eyes for a minute and work up in the dark. I was pleased that I purchased a really good set of earplugs because when I removed them in the morning there was a chorus of snoring, which I am sure I would have been contributing to.

Well another days walking complete. It feels so good to take the shoes off and sit down. I was supposed to have breakfast at the hostel in RONCESVALLES but as I had to wait around for an hour I decided to forgo it and head out and get some breakfast on the way. After about 3-4km in the dark through the woods I came across a cafe just opening. I was their first customer. The coffee was pretty good and had some Spanish Omelette and purchased a chocolate croissant for later on. The walk was much easier today although there was still a couple of decent hills but nothing to compare to the first day. I stopped approximately another 6-7 kms along the way at a small town and had some more Spanish Omelette which looks like a cake but is made of egg, onion and potato from what I can work out. Perfect food for walking. I arrived in Zubiri just after 12:ppm but the reception didn’t open till 1:00pm. I booked in for dinner as well and some others who I have met along the way are also staying here. I have hung my washing out that didn’t dry from yesterday as it was raining. While my legs feel sore I am pretty happy to have another day knocked off. Some amazing scenery this morning as the sun rose and there was mist in the hills. It really is a beautiful place to walk. I was thinking of all of my fiends who have walked the path for me today and giving thanks for their words of knowledge and advice for my Camino.

I also got to talk to each of the kids today as I walked and it was lovely to chat with them as I walked in the forest and then through the townships. Everything is going well at home which was great to hear. At my second stop today i meet a woman from Canada named Brigette she is from Montreal so had a bit of a French accent, she was is a teacher and she asked me why Camino? When I told her my story she nodded her head and said yes this is a good reason to walk the Camino. She was Catholic but said she was on something of a spiritual pilgrimage. You hear all sorts of accents and do you best to communicate with people who speak little or no English at all.

Anyway I am going to keep it brief today I hope you are enjoying the pictures and reading bout my progress. I am enjoying taking the pictures and writing the Blog.
Nga mihi
Mike
