So as I said yesterday we stayed at an Albergue that was run by a group of Nuns it was very tidy and clean but the cold showers was a topic of conversation at the dinner table. Before we went for dinner we went to the pilgrims mass in town it was a lovely experience not that you can understand much. But at the end of the service they had a special blessing for pilgrims and they presented each of us with a star to carry with us for the rest of our journey to Santiago. They also prayed a lovely blessing on each of us. Then we went back to Albergue for dinner we were all thinking that it was going to be vegetarian with the write up we had seen on the hostel. But it was actually chicken and noodle soup for the first course which was really yummy. Then the second course was meatballs and fried eggs, and finally yoghurt for dessert. The we headed for bed at about 8:30pm. I had the best sleep yet in this hostel it was warm the bed was comfortable and the blind was closed so there was no extra light. I woke once to go to the toilet but apart from that I slept beautifully. Through till 6:00am till the alarm went off

Which was actually lovely. Then we got up and organised our stuff we had been warned that there was nothing to eat for at least 17km so we decided to go against our regular policy and have breakfast in town before heading off. We walked back through town just after 6:00am to the bar that we had confirmed did breakfast the day before. It was a hard boiled egg, a piece of Spanish omelette and a chorizo sausage for me with a coffee of course. We also purchased a bread roll for the road and headed off out of town.
What I will say about today is that it was pretty much a straight road for 17km with a little bit of a rise at the end. This was fine until the rain started and the temperature dropped which continued for the rest of the walk. We made it through the 17km to the first village and there was a bit of competition between two bars. We supported the non commercial one of the two with the lovey lady who welcomed us in out of the rain. We had coffee and tried to eat the bread rolls that we purchased at breakfast but they had dried out which made them next to impossible to eat. We didn’t stop long we had 9.8km to complete for the day. So we headed off in the cold rain again. Rain has not been good with blisters as whatever you do the water impacts things so hoping the forecast is right and we have seen the last of the rain for a few days at least. We ground on and made it to the next town by this time my feet were already aching, but we had 3kms to go. You just choose to ignore the pain and push on knowing that there is rest food, a warm
Shower and a bed for the night.

Our accomodation in TERRADILLOS DE LOS TEMPLARIOS is pretty good we have our own room the shower was warm the bed feels comfortable and the lunch was delicious. Our washing has been done and our shoes are stuffed with newspaper drying. There is only 80 people in this town and there isn’t any other options for stuff so we don’t have to go anywhere else. I am feeling content after lunch which was rabbit and rice soup, chicken and salad for the main and then an apple for dessert. I think I am going to head back up to the room for a bit of a lie down after this. Today was a tough day I listened to music to try to distract from the pain and thinking about all the good things in my life. My blisters look ok, I have treaded the right foot and cleaned up the left and will see how they are in the morning. But the blister saga continues I am sorry to say. Anyway that is it for me today. I am still thankful to be here and for this opportunity and today we passed the half way mark. The app tells me 392.5kms completed 374kms to go to Santiago then an extra 100km to the coast all going well.
That’s it for me today!
Nga mihi
Mike
