I went 200m down the path to another Albergue to purchase some food for the morning and also some water. I also got a strawberry ice block. Not that I knew it was strawberry when I purchased it. But it was 29degrees and it was helping to keep me cool. I wandered back up to the restaurant at our Albergue and had a chat with Ray. Bryce and Rory joined us for a drink and during that drink they decided they would head down the hill for some dinner. As I had only just eaten a full meal before I decided that I wouldn’t struggle down the very steep hill again but instead head back to the Albergue and sort stuff for the morning.
It was very warm in the dormitory so after I had sorted my stuff, I hoped into bed and went to sleep. It was a really good sleep despite waking a few times during the night. We agreed that we would get up at 5:30 and be on the road by 6:00am. I woke at about 4:00am and couldn’t get back to sleep. But I had enough sleep. We snuck out to sort out our stuff outside the dorm. It was raining as there had been a thunder storm. Rain wasn’t forecast so we were hoping that it would disappear quickly. It is Pentecost Sunday here in Spain so I prayed a prayer that my friend Jane send me with the lads before I prayed my own prayer.

O Holy Spirit, descend upon us as You descended upon the disciples gathered in the upper room. Sanctify us, free us from fear, and give us Your power to live out our faith boldly. Rushing wind, sweep through our lives and renew our hearts. Transform us into instruments of Your peace and unity, and kindle in us the fire of Your love. Amen.
We headed off into the rain and dark at just before 6:00am. Thankfully the rain wasn’t too heavy it rained for just over an hour and then fined up. We stopped at Portomarin for breakfast and went to a cafe that was clearly catering to tourists. The portions were a bit smaller than we had been receiving elsewhere. But the food and the coffee were good. Once we had our breakfast it was back to the Camino Portomarin was a slight detour off the Camino. One of the things we noticed today being under the 100km mark to Santiago means that there is a whole lot of pilgrims that are only doing the last 100km. There was a whole lot of extra people including a group of Irish School Boys probably about 60 of them. Lots of these people stay in hotels and get ferried to the beginning of the their walk for the day. And snacks and other things provided for them. There were people with Bluetooth speakers and partying as they walked it was kind of hard to weave your way through all the people. There was lots of uphill today and so people generally slowed up so you were passing lots of people. I ended up walking with my bag today as we didn’t know where we were going to stay tonight.

In the end we decided to stop in Ligonde at an Albergue that is run by Agape international which is an Evangelical organisation. The boys are what is that? I said it will be sweet. There is a group from St John’s Downtree Hill London that are here looking after the Albergue for the week. We have to watch an episode or movie of The Chosen. Then there is some sharing etc.. the lads are a little worried about it, they have told me that I need to share on behalf of the group funny!
It is donation based and we aren’t able to setup our beds until after we have watched the movie as we are in what is called the garage. But we are happy about that as we can leave early, they will provide dinner they did our washing for us and we went down the road for some lunch before which was great I had the most amazing hamburger. We are now back at the hostel and talking with the volunteers. Anyway we walked about 25km today and we have walked 691km in total and have 75.6km to go.

That is it from me for today!
Nga mihi
Mike
